Here’s A Brief Explanation of Each Character In The BTS Universe

These are the tragic and compelling characters featured in BTS’s universe.

The BTS Universe, also known as the “HYYH Series” is a recurring universe that first appeared in the music video for “I NEED U” in 2015.

Since then it has appeared in more BTS music videos such as “Run”, “Young Forever” and “Fake Love”.

It’s also been featured in a webtoon.

BTS Is Expanding Into Literature With New Book “The Notes”

Each member of BTS has their own distinct character which remains consistent throughout each progression of the plot. Here is a brief explanation of each character.

1. Kim Seokjin (Jin)

Jin can be considered the main character of the universe. He transferred from a school in America and tends to record everything by taking pictures. He met a woman who dropped her diary, Jin then reads the diary and learns about the mysterious “Smeraldo flower”.

He finds wild Smeraldo flowers and then goes on a date with the girl, but as she crosses the street she is hit by a car and killed. Jin then finds out that he’s gained the ability to turn back time and reverses it. Throughout the continuum, he tries to keep everyone safe but he struggles as bad things keep happening.

2. Min Yoongi (Suga)

Yoongi loved to play piano with his mother, but she died in a fire and he had to move in with his Dad. He struggles to deal with his mother’s death and he hates the silence of his new home. He finds some solace in his friends but sometimes he lashes out at them, like his fight with Jungkook in the “Run” music video.

Yoongi may be deceased as it stands. In the webtoon, Yoongi dies despite Jungkook trying to pull him from a fire in the “Euphoria” music video. Though with the possibility of time travel it’s likely that Yoongi will return at some point.

3. Kim Namjoon (RM)

Namjoon works part-time at a gas station and has delinquent tendencies. Namjoon cares for his friends but can’t bring himself to act to protect them, instead, he watches from far away when things get serious. This attitude is a result of a constant internal struggle within Namjoon, between helping his friends and protecting himself. When Taehyung gets into trouble, Namjoon can’t help him because he had been incarcerated.

4. Jung Hoseok (J-Hope)

Hoseok was abandoned by his mother at an amusement park when he was just a child. He lived for ten years in an orphanage, which along with his abandonment, took a heavy toll on his mental health. He was eventually diagnosed with Munchausen Syndrome, a mental disorder that causes a person to act like he/she is physically and mentally ill despite that not being the case, it also causes severe emotional difficulties. He is seen often with medication and struggles with the question of whether he should take it or not. He has a strong bond with Jimin and is always looking out for him.

5. Park Jimin (Jimin)

Jimin has some kind of crippling illness which causes him to have seizures and end up in the hospital for a long time. He is constantly transferring schools because of his long and regular hospital visits. Once he meets his friends he is happy for a time but he ends up in the hospital once more and that causes him to spiral back into depression.

6. Kim Taehyung (V)

Taehyung’s mother died when he was younger and his father became violent towards him and his sister. He is befriended by Namjoon and together they vandalize things for entertainment, Taehyung uses this as a sort of escapism from his violent home life. One day, he walks in on his sister being abused by his father and ends up killing his father while trying to stop him, this happens during the events of the music video for “I NEED U”.

7. Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook)

Jungkook is the youngest member of the group and he just wants his “hyungs” to be happy. He has a very strong bond with Yoongi who struggles with the death of his mother. He commits suicide in the “Euphoria” music video, likely because he couldn’t save Suga from the fire in that same music video. Jungkook couldn’t keep everyone happy and this hit him hard.

BTS and BigHit Entertainment have established a very compelling plot-line within the BTS Universe, and it has almost endless possibilities because of the time-travel aspect of the universe. Everyone is looking to forward to see how the story progresses.
