K-Pop debut music videos can really make or break a new artist, or at least play a role in how well they’re received in the industry at first. It’s really important for new artists to make a big impact with their debut MV, and a lot of companies now are really hyping up their upcoming artists with tons of teasers and other exciting content to get fans hyped for their debut! The following music videos succeeded in getting fans’ attention, because they currently have the record for being the 10 most-watched K-Pop debut MVs in the first 24 hours of release. Unsurprisingly, they are all under big labels or are the product of competition shows, which helped them to get so much attention before their debut!
10. “Whistle” by BLACKPINK
“Whistle”, one of BLACKPINK’s two debut music videos, came out on August 8, 2016, almost exactly four years ago! Debuting under YG Entertainment with a huge following even before they debuted, their “Whistle” MV gained 2.97 million views in the first 24 hours. It’s now at 528 million views!
9. “Break All the Rules” by CRAVITY
CRAVITY just debuted on April 14 of this year under Starship Entertainment. Though they’re not a huge company, they really hyped up their new group’s debut, and it successfully landed them on this list! “Break All the Rules” got 3.07 million views in its first 24 hours, and now has about 12.5 million total.
8. “BOOMBAYAH” by BLACKPINK
“BOOMBAYAH” was BLACKPINK’s second and more popular debut music video, also released on August 8, 2016. This MV gained 3.33 million views in the first 24 hours, and now has about 929 million.
7. “Energetic” by Wanna One
Wanna One was created from the competition show Produce 101, so they already had many huge fans of the members from watching the show before Wanna One even debuted as a group. This helped propel them onto this list when they debuted on August 7, 2017. The music video got 4.03 million views in the first 24 hours, and it’s now up to 135 million!
6. “District 9” by Stray Kids
Stray Kids, like others on this list, had the luck to debut under a popular entertainment company, JYP Entertainment, which definitely helped them gain attention before their first MV dropped. Of course, they’re immensely talented as well, which fans got to see with their pre-release song “Hellevator”, and when “District 9” came out on March 26, 2018, it got 4.27 million views in the first day. It now has 45.7 million views.
5. “La Vie en Rose” by IZ*ONE
Like Wanna One, IZ*ONE was able to garner a lot of attention from the members’ time on Produce 101, and fans were hyped to see what their debut would be like. “La Vie en Rose” came out on October 29, 2018, and received 4.56 million views within the first 24 hours. It now has 130 million views, and the group is doing incredibly well, especially in album sales!
4. “Flash” by X1
Again, like Wanna One and IZ*ONE, X1 was extremely anticipated due to the members coming from Produce 101. Their debut song, “Flash”, got 6.78 million views in the first day, and now has 101 million views. Sadly, of course, they were forced to disband before they could create any other MVs.
3. “Boy” by TREASURE
Freshly debuted boy group TREASURE, under YG Entertainment, officially has the third-most watched debut music video! They just debuted yesterday on August 7, and within its first 24 hours, the music video for “Boy” gained 9.15 million views. Since it has been a bit more than 24 hours since it came out, it actually now has about 11.3 million views!
2. “Crown” by TXT
It shouldn’t be a surprise that BTS’s younger brother group under BigHit Entertainment had such a hugely anticipated debut. Thanks to the popularity of their seniors under the same label (and, of course, their own talents!), TXT’s “Crown” got 15.1 million views in its first 24 hours! It now has 116 million views.
1. “DALLA DALLA” by ITZY
And finally, the award for the most-viewed debut MV in the first 24 hours goes to ITZY’s “DALLA DALLA”. Debuting under JYP Entertainment, the company really did a great job of hyping the girls up before the song was released, and it ended up with 17.1 million views in the first day. It’s now up to 210 million views, and their popularity and success has proven to be well-deserved!
