Fans Find Evidence That Cosmic Girls’s 3 Chinese Members May Have Officially Left The Group

Ujungs aren’t ready to say goodbye ㅜㅜ

After several years of hiatus, Cosmic Girls fans have found evidence that all three of the group’s Chinese members—Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi—may have departed for good.

The last Cosmic Girls comeback that Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi appeared in was Dreams Come True—all the way back in February 2018.

Since then, the group has released five singles without their Chinese members. The most recent was “Butterfly” in June this year, the title track of their 8th mini album, Neverland.

However, while the Cosmic Girls’s China line members haven’t been participating in group comebacks, they have been active over the past two years. In 2018, Meiqi and Xuanyi placed 1st and 2nd respectively on Produce 101 China, making it into the project group Rocket Girls 101. The group later disbanded in June this year after their two-year contract expired.

Xuanyi has also been active on television, appearing as a cast member on several Chinese television shows. In September 2020, she made her solo debut with the song “25”, and she’s set to make her acting debut in fantasy C-Drama Douluo Continent later this year.

Meanwhile, Meiqi made her solo debut in 2019 with Jiang, which sold over 1 million copies in its first hour. Her first comeback, “MUTE”, was released at the end of October this year. Last year, Meiqi also played lead roles in several Chinese movies.

Cheng Xiao has also been making a name for herself in China over the past few years. She’ll be making her big screen debut in Detective Chinatown 3 after appearing on numerous C-Dramas this year alone.

Since Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi are all now predominantly active in China, they all have their own accounts on popular Chinese social networking site Weibo. Cheng Xiao has almost 11 million followers while Xuanyi and Meiqi have around 24 million each. Previously, all three members had “Cosmic Girls member” in their Weibo bios—but it seems things have changed.

One fan on Twitter (@dearchengxiao) recently noticed that Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi have all removed “Cosmic Girls member” from their Weibo descriptions. Instead, their biographies have been changed to “Yuehua Entertainment Artist; Singer; Actress“. Since all the descriptions seem to have been changed at the same time, many are presuming that all three members have now left Cosmic Girls.

As of right now, Yuehua Entertainment is yet to issue a statement on the status of Cosmic Girls’s China line. Some fans are still clinging to hope after noticing that Cheng Xiao still has “WJSN” and her Korean name, Seongso, in her Instagram bio. The members are also still following the official Cosmic Girls Weibo account.
