In his interview with GQ, J-Hope revealed exactly what’s going on with his second mixtape. He revealed that he had been working on it, but he scrapped what he’d worked on so far and started over. He said he’s been working on the new mixtape, and he’s given himself a deadline.

I had some struggles recently. And I went through a slump too. I’d reached my limit, in a way. I kept wondering how I could get through it, but in the end, I decided to start over from scratch. So yes, I’m working on something completely new, with the desire to make something that is truly and uniquely mine, as quickly as I can. I’ve even given myself a deadline.

Although he’s working on making a mixtape that’s fully his own, J-Hope recognizes that his fanbase has grown exponentially since he released his first mixtape. He said, “I’m trying to create what I want while being aware of trends. Since my listener base has increased, I can’t completely ignore people’s opinions and do whatever I want, so I keep going back and forth.”

While J-Hope hasn’t specified a release date for his mixtape, the fact that he’s given himself a deadline means he’s working hard on his music so fans can hear it as soon as possible. From what he said, it sounds like we have some great music to look forward to that’ll be the perfect mix of J-Hope’s signature sounds and the current trends in music.
