How LE SSERAFIM’s Chaewon Feels About Being A Leader And People’s Reaction To Her Style Change

She also revealed that there is only one member she goes to for advice.

In a recent interview with GQ KoreaLE SSERAFIM‘s Chaewon opened up about different aspects of this second phase of her career after IZ*ONE. As the leader of the group and as an artist who wanted to reinvent her image, this 21-year-old talked in depth about the mindset with which she has approached her new role.

Chaewon explained that being a leader was a new kind of an experience for her. It took her some time to get accustomed to situations where she had to be proactive and take the initiative.

But there’s a saying, ‘Humans are animals that adapt,’ so I got used to it over time. That’s when I realized, ‘Ah, I can really do it.’

Her goal is to be a leader with whom the other LE SSERAFIM members can be comfortable opening up about any issue. Chaewon admitted that she usually only goes to co-member Sakura for advice or to talk about her own worries because to the others, especially the younger members, she wants to be a strong person to rely on.

When asked about her intentions behind changing up her look entirely from what it was during IZ*ONE, Chaewon said she wanted to try something new instead of repeating the same concept. It was her own decision to change up her style when she re-debuted with LE SSERAFIM.

I remember that there was a comment saying, ‘This is not the Kim Chaewon that I know of.’ Actually I’ve been wanting to hear such a comment before I debuted. Once again, I’m so proud of myself for having tried this short hairstyle.

Though to some old fans of Chaewon this look change was not a welcomed development, she took on the challenge nevertheless and bodied the new vibe completely. Now that is a fearless artist.
