NCT’s Mark, SHINee’s Taemin, And More Male Idols Wore The Same CELINE T-Shirt But Served Completely Different Vibes

They all look so handsome; it’s impossible to say if one wore it best!

For members within the same company, it’s not too surprising when certain clothing pieces or styles overlap—for example, those in SM Entertainment like SHINee‘s Taemin and NCT’s Mark. However, when it comes to popular brands like CELINE, some outfits or at least shirts will sometimes overlap within the K-Pop industry period.

This year, the hot item for idols is a shirt from French luxury brand CELINE’s latest collection. On the company’s website, it is described as a multicolored loose cotton T-shirt with studded CELINE print. It’s not necessarily what one would call affordable, especially for casual wear, since it costs $590 USD. Nonetheless, it’s a fun yet versatile piece that gives room for various stylings.

One of the first to get their hands on the shirt was former Wanna One member Lai Guanlin (also known as  Lai Kuanlin). In February, he uploaded pictures on his Instagram account from a photoshoot in which the shirt was layered over a classic white button-up with denim slacks for a smart casual look.

Next month, SHINee’s Taemin posted a photo on his Instagram, also wearing the shirt. Paired with wide-legged light-blue jeans and black sneakers, his interpretation is much more laidback. The addition of the lock charm chain gave it a slight E-boy aesthetic, which is part of the inspiration for CELINE’s Spring/Summer 2021 menswear collection “The Dancing Kid.”

Shortly after that, Kim Wooseok posted a photo of himself lounging in a leather chair. Like Taemin, he accessorized with a lock charm chain. Coordinating within CELINE’s collections, he opted for a pair of their sweatpants with mirror studs that perfectly matched the T-shirt’s logo!

Suddenly, it seemed that everyone in the entire Korean music industry had the shirt! Korean rapper Jung Jaewon, known as ONE, wore a similar outfit to Wooseok’s. Also, in March, ONE uploaded a photo of himself at an aquarium on his Instagram. He gave us major E-boy vibes with the lock charm chain, layered shirts, and hazy photos.

Around the same time, NCTzens began to speculate a potential NCT DREAM comeback, especially when Jaemin started to post pictures. He posted a photo on NCT DREAM’s Twitter account where he appeared to be in a studio. On his personal Instagram, he posted more photos, but he was posing on a staircase this time. In both, he was wearing the multicolored CELINE T-shirt with faded blue jeans.

Now that NCT DREAM has confirmed their comeback, they are releasing teaser images for their album Hot Sauce. The majority of clothing worn during the photoshoots are from “The Dancing Kid” collection. This includes the now-famous tie-dye shirt, which was worn by Mark. Like those before him, he paired it with a chain, but he added multiple necklaces. The mirror-studded black joggers have returned too. For an even edgier vibe, he added multiple layers with a black-and-white striped turtleneck, a sleeveless black leather jacket with pins on the lapel, and his tousled blue hair.

Not of the same color but of the same collection, ASTRO‘s Moonbin deserves an honorable mention! He had what was perhaps the most unique styling of the CELINE design yet. The stylist cut the sides off the nearly $600 shirt (no big deal) to create a muscle tee for a performance. With the sweatband on his wrist and faded denim cargo pants, it felt like a blend of two generations, the 90s and Gen-Z.

While each male idol styled the tie-dye CELINE T-shirt differently, they each looked so good that they all deserve to be brand ambassadors!
