This Japanese Artist Creates Creepily Realistic Sculptures

Madame Tussauds who? This artist from Japan is creating some shockingly life-like sculptures and you won’t believe your eyes.

Kazuhiro Tsuji is an artist based in Kyoto and has been startling people with some creepily life-like sculptures. Kazuhiro constructs his paintings using platinum silicon, resin, and other materials and his collection includes precisely detailed 3-dimensional portraits of Salvador Dali, Abraham Lincoln, and Frida Kahlo.

“My aim is to sculpt portraits that go beyond capturing a likeness.  I create these heads from the inside out, bringing to life the appearance of inner thought and emotion as I layer the silicone.”

— Kazuhiro Tsuji

His life-like sculptures may be new to you, but his makeup effects can be seen high-budget Hollywood movies including Planet of the Apes and Blade 3. Currently, he is working in Los Angeles where he is constructing a hyperrealist large-scale portrait.

Check out some of his incredibly realistic pieces below:

Kazuhiro has all but brought Abraham Lincoln back to life in this incredible sculpture.
An appropriately surreal sculpture of the surrealist painter Salvador Dali.
Frida Khalo has jumped right off the page in this mind-blowing sculpture.
An incredibly appropriate tribute to the late make-up artist, Dick Smith.
