On the writing credits of their track “First Time,” there is a familiar name listed as a co-writer, and it’s Little Mix‘s Jade Thirlwall. The group recently appeared in an interview on the Zach Sang Show, revealing how they felt about the track.

Chaeyoung explained how honored they were to work on the song with Jade and how they had all been fans of the group since before debuting.

When we were trainees, we covered a lot of songs by Little Mix, and when we had monthly evaluations, we covered a lot of songs by Little Mix. So we are very honored that Jade was a part of this song.

Dahyun added she listened to a lot of Little Mix songs growing up. Because of this, when she found out that Jade was part of the track’s writing process, she added, “I was amazed and thought it was really fun.”

In terms of writing the song itself, Jihyo is also credited as a writer on the track. In the interview, she explained how she came up with the lyrics of the track.

When I received the demo track, I thought that the voice of Little Mix sounded great, and the lyrics in the demo were also really good. I incorporated parts of it in the Korean version as well.

— Jihyo

Before the album was released, Jade also tweeted her excitement about the fact that TWICE was going to be releasing one of her songs.

Although the group never actually met Jade, it is still a small example of two of the world’s biggest girl groups colliding. Many fans would happily see more interactions between the two in the future. Hopefully, a real collaboration could be on the cards sooner rather than later.
